Children's Class

By: Rod Schwartz

One of the visions of our family in coming to Mexico was to work with the children of Choix. More than just providing fun and games and a place to hang out. More importantly, teaching them about Jesus, His Love and Salvation, and the plans He has for every person, even children. During our year of language study we made lots of friends with the kids in our neighborhood, and learned a lot from them. Christa's fame as the cookie queen also spread thoughout the area and rarely was our front porch empty.

After our year of study, we started a kid's club on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 - 5:00 on our front porch. Beginning with the creation story, we studied up to the life of Abraham and then switched to the birth, life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Shortly after we started the club in our neighborhood, we started one in San Pedro, one of the villages where we have a Sunday service. This class got cancelled when Christa started having complications during her pregnancy and at this point we haven't started back up yet. Lord willing, sometime this spring we can get started back up in San Pedro.

Class time consists of opening with a few songs, then a time of memorizing memory verses with a chance to get candy for verses said by memory. The Bible Story is next and is followed with prayer and a time of coloring a picture and doing a word search puzzle. During this time we serve a snack. When enough of the kids are finished we play group games up until its time for them to leave.

Attendance varies quite a bit, but we are encouraged by some of the changes that we've seen in some of the boys that come, a few of the parents have even thanked us and encouraged us and it's well worth the effort of trying to keep some of the roudy ones in order, if we can show them Jesus.

Please pray with us that the Word of God would take root in these young hearts and make an impact in their lives now and in the future. We pray that the Lord will raise up young people who will make a possitive impact for Christ in this community. For the Glory of God ! Thanks for praying.
